Nature Nest Installation & Setup Guide
Nature Nest Installation
1- Handle with care. Remove the belt and open Nature Nest box.
2- Inside you will find the Nature Nest + the perforated water tank cover + 3 packs of soluble fertilizers (1 pack to be dissolved in a full Nature Nest tank of 20 L every month) + 2 L shape hooks and plastic anchors (drill the hole with a 12 mm drill bit).
3- The Nature Nest electrical cable is 2 m long, choose the closest 220 V socket to plug it. • If you bought the WIFI option, keep in mind that the connection must be strong with 2,4 GHz band. Keep the main circuit breaker of the controller OFF.
• Once location is chosen, mark with a pencil the 2 holes to drill according to the 2 hooks of the Nature Nest.
• Before drilling in a wall, always ask if any pipe or cable exist inside the wall.
• After drilling and hanging the Nature Nest, make sure that it is well leveled using a leveler.
4- Put the perforated cover on top of the water tank in the correct way.
Cover it all with a nylon sheet to avoid any dirt falling inside the tank.
5- Choose the correct plants for your location taking into consideration the light intensity and the ambient temperature, plants variety will vary if indoor or outdoor conditions.
• Do not use plants with bigger root ball than the pocket size, the maximum plant pot diameter must be 12 cm. It is better if the plants are grown in peatmoss without soil.
• Remove gently the pot and insert the plant in the pocket firmly, all roots must be below the pocket level. We can use vegetables, herbs or ornamental plants and flowers.
• Fill all the gaps around the root ball with a light substrate made of potting soil + perlite or only potting soil of a good quality. Do not compact too much the substrate.
• After all the plants has been inserted, close firmly the Hook and Loop belt.
• Clean the skin from the dirt by air blowing.
6- Remove the nylon sheet from the cover and remove the cover, clean well inside the tank.
7- Make sure the electrical float switch is at its lowest level possible.
8- Close the drain outlet by using Teflon tape on the half inch male end cap and tightening it firmly.
9- Fill the water tank with 20 Liters of clean water with a low salinity (EC below 500).
Make sure that the drain outlet is not leaking.
10- Put the perforated cover on top of the tank.
11- Put the DPN main breaker ON.
12- Operate manually the timer to water abundantly the skin (scan QR code for timer tutorial). Irrigate around 5 times for 1 minute at least each time. Wait for the skin to drain than refill the water tank to the full.
13- Put 1 soluble fertilizers pack in the tank full of water.
14- Set the irrigation timer schedule as needed : 3 times /day in very hot weather to 1 time/week when indoor….(scan the QR code for tutorial). • In very hot weather, tank refill can be needed twice per week and in indoor places tank refill can be needed once every 2 weeks. • Water consumption (ETP) depends on temperature, air humidity, plants type and size.
15- Set the LED lighting timer as needed (scan QR code for tutorial).
16- After 2 to 3 days of irrigation, check the upper pockets substrate for humidity level and adjust the irrigation schedule accordingly. The upper part is always the driest.
17- Once per month or 2 months max, empty the water tank, clean it and refill with fresh water with an EC below 500 (salinity) than add a fertilizers pack to the full tank, stir the water for a quick dissolving. Do not operate the pump if dirt is still in suspension in the water. Wait for 1 hour.
18- Keep checking the plants leaves for insects or diseases and treat as soon as it shows up. Consult a specialist for the adequate treatment.
19- Replace weak or dead plants and avoid falling dirt inside the water tank.
20- After several months, check if any aggressive roots invade the water tank and the pump. Cut these roots if it is the case. Clean the bottom filter net of the pump if any dirt.
21- Nature Nest is a user friendly, plug and play compact green wall that works with Alexa and google assistance (for the WIFI version). It is under warranty for 1 year.
